Whenever I start planning my Christmas decor for the year I always start with the color scheme.
I’ve always been drawn to blue and white décor since I enjoy classic Christmas décor. So it should come as no surprise that blue and white Christmas decorations appeal to me!
There are many ways to use this color combination in your Christmas decor, from white candles and shimmering silver accents to icy blue ornaments and snowflake-shaped lights. White and blue will give your house a hint of class and elegance, whether you like a more luxurious display or a more minimalist vibe.
And if you’re looking to add a touch of blue and white to your Christmas decor, we’ve got some ideas for creating your blue themed Christmas tree or decorating your home with a blue color scheme this holiday season.
Blue and White Christmas Decor for Living Room
Cozy Living Room Accents
To create an all-around wintery look throughout your living room, use blue and white accents in your furniture and accessories.
One of my favorite ways to decorate the living room is with tiny juniper wreaths tied with blue chiffon ribbon on the windows. Another way is to use the same blue and white ornaments to decorate your tree and the garland on your mantel to create a cohesive effect in the living room. And then add a snowy touch to the mantel with a flocked garland to accentuate the color scheme.
1. Throw Pillows and Blankets: Add blue and white throw pillows and blankets to your sofa. Choose classic patterns like snowflakes, stripes, or plaids to keep with the holiday theme.
2. Rugs and Curtains: Swap out your regular rugs and curtains for blue and white ones. A fluffy white rug can mimic snow, and blue curtains can add a pop of color.
3. Candles and Candle Holders: Use blue and white candles on your coffee table or mantel. Silver candle holders will reflect the light and add to the festive ambiance.
4. Wall Art: Hang winter-themed wall art that features blue and white colors. Scenes of snowy landscapes, Christmas trees, or abstract designs can enhance your decor.
Blue and White Christmas Tree
If you have a second Christmas tree in your family room, consider a blue Christmas tree. This bold choice can be incredibly striking and unique.
Put a little blue spruce within a chinoiserie cachepot with blue and white accents. Wear the blue Christmas decorations throughout the tree with bejeweled orbs, little ginger pot ornaments, and blue ribbons. Add gold tassels and a velvet ribbon to complete the look.
5. Blue and white Ornaments: Decorate your white tree with various blue ornaments. You can use different shades of blue, from light blue to navy blue, to add depth and interest. Consider using blue baubles, stars, and snowflakes.
6. Silver Accents: Add silver ornaments and tinsel to enhance the sparkle. Silver and blue are a classic combination that feels both festive and elegant.
7. Blue Lights: Use blue lights to illuminate your tree. The soft blue glow will create a calming and magical atmosphere.
8. Blue Ribbon: Wrap a blue ribbon around your tree. This adds a touch of color and ties the blue theme together. You can use a wide ribbon for a bold look or a thin one for a delicate touch.
White Christmas Tree
No matter where you live, you can always count on a white Christmas if you have a strong Christmas tree decked out with some big snowflakes and ornaments in blue and white. On this Christmas tree, ornaments made of icicles add to the wintry décor. Hang Blue Christmas stockings above the fireplace to complete the look.
9.Silver Ornaments: Silver ornaments complement blue decorations beautifully. Add silver balls, tree topper, tinsel, and icicles to create a shimmering effect.
10. White Flowers: White flowers, such as poinsettias or faux snow-covered roses, add a soft, natural feel to your tree. They also enhance the winter wonderland theme.
11. White Ornaments: Decorate your blue tree with white ornaments to create a snowy, winter wonderland look. White baubles, stars, and snowflakes will stand out beautifully against the blue tree.
A white Christmas tree is a perfect centerpiece for a blue and white Christmas decor theme.
Dining Room Table Decor
The dining room table is where you’ll share festive meals with your loved ones. Here are some ideas to make your dining table look stunning with blue and white Christmas decorations.
Table Settings
12. Tablecloth and Napkins: Start with a white tablecloth as the base. Add blue napkins and a blue table runner to bring in the color scheme. I adore this simple table runner with blue stripes that would be perfect for the Fourth of July as well (multi-holiday décor is so awesome). These light blue scalloped napkins give a very faint pop of blue in the décor.
13. Plates and Glassware: Use white plates with blue accents or blue plates with white accents. Silverware with intricate designs will add a touch of elegance. Clear glassware with blue rims or designs can complete the look.
14. Centerpiece: Create a beautiful centerpiece using a mix of blue and white decorations. A blue and white floral arrangement, a silver candelabra with blue candles, or a bowl of blue and silver ornaments can be stunning options.
Additional Decor
15. Chair Decorations: Tie blue ribbons around the backs of your dining chairs. You can add a small ornament or a sprig of holly for extra flair.
16. Place Cards: Make or buy place cards with blue and white designs. This adds a personal touch and keeps your table looking organized.
17. Lighting: Use fairy lights or blue LED lights to add a cozy glow to your dining room. You can drape them around the windows or weave them through your centerpiece.
Family Room Accents
18. Stockings: Hang blue and white stockings on the mantel. Personalized stockings with family members’ names can add a special touch.
19. Garlands and Wreaths: Use blue and white garlands and wreaths to decorate your mantel, windows, and doors. You can add silver bells and ribbons to these for extra charm.
20. Throw Pillows and Blankets: Just like in the living room, use blue and white throw pillows and blankets. These can make your family room feel cozy and inviting.
